OCTCO

This course provides training to candidates to be duly qualified under Section A V/1-1 of the STCW code with specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo operation on oil or chemical tankers. It comprises of a basic training programme appropriate to their duties, including basic training for oil and chemical tanker safety, fire safety measures, pollution prevention, safe operational practices and obligations under applicable law and regulations. The course covers the competency required, as given in the table A-V/1-1-1 of the STCW code adopted by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for seafarers, 1978 as amended in 2010

Educational:

As per STCW code book, all 4 Basic Safety courses are mandatory 1. Fire prevention and fire fighting (FPFF) 2. Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR) 3. Personal Survival Techniques (PST) 4. Elementary First Aid (EFA)

Note: INDOS Certificate is mandatory

Educational:

Medical:

Medical Examinations shall be conducted by Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) approved doctors. Standard of such medical examination is general in nature and can be obtained from the Doctors on request.

Eye Sight:

  • Distance vision (unaided 0.5 *(6/12) in each eye or 0.67*(6/9) in better eye and 0.33 *(6/18) in other eye; and
  • No Color Blindness and Night Blindness shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.
