The Orientation Programme for the GP Rating January 2026 Batch was conducted at the AV Room of R.L. Institute of Nautical Sciences, Madurai, at 10:40 hrs on Monday, January 05, 2026. The session introduced the cadets to the institute’s training structure, maritime discipline, and academic guidelines
Cadet Port Visit to Tuticorin for Practical Training – November 2025
As part of their practical maritime training, cadets from R.L. Institute of Nautical Sciences, Madurai undertook a port visit to Tuticorin in November 2025. The visit provided the cadets with valuable exposure to real-time port operations, cargo handling procedures and various maritime activities carried out at the port.
During the visit, the cadets observed different port facilities and gained insights into the functioning of ships, logistics operations and safety practices followed in the maritime industry. Such field visits play an important role in enhancing the practical knowledge of cadets and preparing them for their future careers at sea.
The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour at the RLINS Parade Ground, R.L. Institute of Nautical Sciences, Madurai, on August 15, 2025.
At 7:45 a.m., the National Flag was hoisted by Er. Balan Muthuramalingam, Principal. The ceremony was marked by a Guard of Honour and an impressive parade by the cadets, adding grandeur to the occasion.
The cadets of the Electro Technical Officer (ETO) August 2025 Batch have successfully completed their training at R.L. Institute of Nautical Sciences, Madurai.
During the course period, the cadets underwent intensive training in marine electrical systems, shipboard automation, electronic equipment maintenance and safety procedures essential for modern vessels. The programme provided both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure required for a successful career in the maritime industry.

The cadets of the Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) March 2025 Batch have successfully completed their training programme at R.L. Institute of Nautical Sciences, Madurai.
During the training period, the cadets received comprehensive instruction in marine engineering systems, ship machinery operations, safety procedures and engine room management. The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical training to prepare the cadets for professional careers in the Merchant Navy.
